Boys at Work

Well, you’ve seen the character studies for Ivan Peabody and Maxwell. This is the first concept scene. I used Brushes 2 beta on my iPod Touch.

I haven’t decided whether I’m going to migrate this comic strip to my Cintiq, or if I’m going to make this an iPod Touch comic strip. I can say this was a hell of a lot of work on my iPod. It took somewhere between 8 and 12 hours over the course of the weekend. I think I could work quicker with practice, but I don’t know how much quicker. I know the Cintiq and Corel Painter would provide more tools, more control, and a much bigger canvas, but it’s also not portable.

I’m also deciding whether I want the entire format of this strip to be of this caliber, or whether I want to simplify the coloring and background work for the sake of a quicker work flow. I imagine that it will ultimately be a mixed work flow throughout the strip, depending on the importance of the panel.

I love sitting around imagining that I actually have time to do any of this. :)
